The Art of Rug Weaving (Class for 3 hours)

Join master Craftsman, Hayk Oltaci, for a workshop of three hours this October in San Francisco, CA. at Motel Capri. Learn the art of rug weaving and discover the ancient art of rug making!

When: Classes start the last week of October 2017 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday).
*  October: 27;  Friday,  1:30pm – 4:30pm
*  October: 28;  Saturday,  1:30pm – 4:30pm
*  October: 29; Sunday,  1:30pm – 4:30pm

Where: Motel Capri, 2015 Greenwich Street , San Francisco, CA

Price: $150.00/per person, Includes instruction and materials.

Weaving Loom kit includes:
* Weaving frame
* Pick-up stick
* Yarn needle
* Weaving warp and weft
* 3 Different Colored Yarn

You will learn the ABCs of vertical rug weaving, including terms such as warp and weft, techniques such as knotting and the basics of design. You will discover how to weave a rug in your own design. You will actually practice the art of rug making by weaving a small rug of your own using the loom and materials provided to each participant. This is an exciting opportunity to learn how rugs have been made for thousands of years from an experienced teacher who will carefully guide you at every stage.
Everyone leaves with their own mini rug. All materials and supplies provided. All ages welcome.

I am pleased to inform you that the Norian Armenian Programs at the University of Connecticut will be hosting an Armenian Festival on Saturday, September 23, 2017. The following link provides the details about the program, the time, and the location:

I will be one of the presenters in the featured activities demonstrating “The Art of Rug Weaving:” a hands-on workshop.
With the thought that it would be an excellent cultural experience for anyone who might be interested to attend, I have decided to inform my friends of this Armenian Festival at the University of Connecticut.

This event is free and open to the public.

Master-Craftsman, Hayk Oltaci invited to Vancouver to teach the Ancient Art of Rug Weaving.

Join Hayk Oltaci, from New York City, for a day-long workshop on May 6, 2017 at St. Vartan Armenian Church of BC. Learn the art of rug weaving and discover the ancient art of rug making!

When: Saturday, May 6, 2017, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Where: St. Vartan Armenian Church of BC: 1260 West 67th Avenue, Vancouver, BC
Cost: $150.00 per person

Includes instruction and materials. You keep your weaving-loom kit, weaving frame, pick-up stick, yarn needle, weaving warp and yarn. Lunch is included.
Limited seating: A 12-person group
Reservation is required by: March 31, 2017


The purpose of this workshop is to promote the ancient art of rug weaving to Armenians around the world. If you are an arts and crafts lover, this is another medium you will simply love to work in. We are starting off with beginner’s workshops with the hopes of creating a future rug-weaving circle.
