Come Learn the Ancient Art of Rug Weaving - Starting March 9, 2012


By the demand of many customers, Hayko Fine Rugs and Tapestries is bringing back its popular class 'Ancient Art of Rug Weaving' starting this March.


Come join us on Thursdays beginning March 8th for a four-week beginner's rug weaving class by master craftsman
Hayk Oltaci. He will teach you the ABCs of rug weaving, including vertical weaving techniques (knotting, warp, weft) and the beginnings of design at his beautiful atelier in Astoria.

Class Dates: March 8th, March 15th, March 22nd and March 29th
Time: 7:00 pm-9:00 pm (2 hours)
Cost: $245 (plus materials $40)
Location: 9-20 35th Ave. Space 3D, Astoria, NY 11106

Commemorating 500 Years of Armenian Printing

The Diocesan Center in New York will be the venue for a special presentation honoring the 500th anniversary of Armenian printing, on the evening of Tuesday, January 24.

Zakarya Mildanoglu, a columnist for the Agos Weekly of Istanbul, will be the keynote speaker, delivering his remarks in Armenian. Hagop Vartivarian will be the master of ceremonies.

The event, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Guild Hall of the Diocesan Center, will take place under the auspices of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern), in collaboration with several organizations.
